W. Bernard ("Bernie") Carlson (Ph.D., Univ. of Pennsylvania, 1984) joined the STS department in 1985. He is the recipient of the IEEE Life Members Prize in Electrical History. Recent work includes his multi-volume Technology in World History (Oxford University Press). He is currently working on a biography of Nikola Tesla.
